Crux, a Boston Globe Media website covering all things Catholic, will live-stream a special panel discussion, “Francis: A Pope For the 21st Century,” from Rome at 12:15 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 8, featuring Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York.

The discussion on the impact of Pope Francis and the Synod of Bishops, which will be live-streamed on this page, will also feature panelists Cardinal George Pell, in charge of reforming the Vatican’s finances at the new Secretariat of the Economy, and Crux associate editor John L. Allen Jr., Crux Vatican correspondent Inés San Martín, and national reporter Michael O’Loughlin; with opening remarks by Msgr. James Checchio of the Pontifical North American College, and Boston Globe editor Brian McGrory.

The event will include a discussion on the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on family, a gathering of more than 250 men and women from five continents in Vatican City, Oct. 5-19.
