Announcement of new Principal from Fr. Dennis:
Our Catholic elementary school is the largest ministry of St. Dominic Catholic Parish. Our school has been admired for decades. Having your child attend a Catholic school fulfills the promise parents make at their child’s baptism – to teach your child our faith. To help parents in their mission, my goal has been to maintain the excellence of our school, but also maintain its affordability. It has been possible only through the generosity of our parishioners who subsidize the cost, as well as continued charity which affords us a substantive tuition assistance program.
These last several years have seen significant turnover in leadership, and that has come to an end. Our school year ended with our teachers making a commitment to St. Dominic Catholic School. A team of teachers has been active in planning and recruiting for a new leader. We are ready to move forward. We had plans to carry this next year with an interim principal. While we pursued this route, we also sought a long-term replacement, in the hopes of attracting quality candidates we may miss by our interim principal search.
This dual strategy has borne fruit, as it is with great joy that I announce Mrs. Gloria Schumacher has been named principal of St. Dominic Catholic School, effective immediately. Our interview teamconsisted of parish members with school leadership experience, teachers who make up our transition team, School Advisory Commission leaders, a trustee, and parish staff. Mrs. Schumacher met with the team three times. The depth of the candidate pool was stronger than any other search and gave us confidence in our process. Mrs. Schumacher stood out.
Her record of leadership within the archdiocese speaks clearly, as you will see in her accompanying biography. She has served as a principal within our archdiocese since 2003. Most recently, she led the elementary school of John Paul Academy in Racine for eleven years. She was subsequently recruited to serve as principal at St. Catherine High School in Racine. Her motive for returning to elementary school leadership is that it is where she feels called, and we see her high school experience as a gift.
Mrs. Schumacher inherits a school that is ready. All teaching positions are filled after the recent hiring of a gym teacher. The transition team has offered their time this summer building the foundation she will now lead. Mrs. Schumacher will come into her position having the strong support of our teachers, and I am confident of the same support from our parents and students.
I am grateful for the interview team, the interest within the community to maintain our school as the excellence source of Catholic elementary education, as well as the transition team, who had time to get to know Mrs. Schumacher. I am also grateful to you, our families, who have offered prayers, patience, and most importantly, trust in parish leadership. We are the St. Dominic Knights, helpers to those in need and loyal friends to those who need one. We are knights for Christ.
I have excitement for the strong start to the 2026-2027 school year, but I am also humbled by the selfless work and dedication offered by teachers, staff, school parents, and parishioners, all in support and pride for our school.
St. Dominic, pray for us.

Message from the Principal
It is my great honor to be named St. Dominic’s next principal. I bring to you 22 years of administrative experience, all proudly served within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. My servant leadership style, stemming from my deep faith, has been the cornerstone of my career, guiding every decision I make to ensure our schools are places where Christ’s love is real and academic excellence thrives.
I have been the principal at four schools in Milwaukee, Mequon, and Racine, gaining a comprehensive understanding of student growth across grades 4–12. I earned both my M.Ed. in Administrative Leadership and my B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Additionally, I hold a Director of Pupil Services and Special Education license from Alverno University. Beyond my principal roles, I have served as the coordinator of ESSER and Title I, II, III, and IV funds, and managed over $2 million in EANS funding for a seven-school system. I have also had the privilege of mentoring future leaders as a principal practicum supervisor for Marquette University and Cardinal Stritch University, and I actively serve as a member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council for the Archdiocese.
I am absolutely thrilled and deeply joyful to join this vibrant community. I am impressed by the incredible tradition, highly regarded reputation, and strong faith that define St. Dominic School. It is clear to me that St. Dominic is an exemplar school because of its exceptionally dedicated, talented staff, its deeply supportive parishioners, and above all, its wonderful students who bring life and purpose to our mission every single day.
On a personal note, my husband and I are fully rooted in the Catholic school community ourselves, our son attends Catholic Memorial High School and we belong to St. Leonard’s Church in Muskego. Our home is kept lively by our two dogs, Clover, a Bernedoodle, and Shamrock, a Sheepadoodle. When I am not at school, you can usually find me buried in a good book, watching sports, spending time boating, or enjoying all things Wisconsin.
My goal is to listen, learn, and lead collaboratively alongside our amazing faculty, families, and parish. Together, keeping our students at the very center of everything we do, we will root ourselves in our shared Catholic values, build upon this strong foundation, and guide St. Dominic to even greater things. I look forward to meeting each of you soon and embarking on this exciting journey together.
Summer Blessings,
~Mrs. Gloria L. Schumacher
