Every year Catholic Masses and celebrations are held throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee on Memorial Day in observance of those who gave their lives for freedom.

The Catholic Herald took a camera to the event held at the historic Calvary Cemetery in Milwaukee, Monday, May 25, where Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki celebrated Mass and fired a cannon during the celebration, featuring Civil War re-enactors and a rifle salute. Usually held outdoors, the Mass was moved indoors at St. Vincent Pallotti-East Church, Milwaukkee, because of inclement weather.
