I am excited to announce the final details for our Salzmann Library Spring Lecture event! As this is the “Year of Consecrated Life,” we hoped to have an individual that is in a religious order come and speak about their experiences.
The Salzmann Library is happy to welcome School Sister of Notre Dame Debra Sciano to give a talk at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary on Tuesday, April 21st. Sr. Debra professed her first vows for the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1981, and final vows in 1986. Around this time she also received her law degree and has been a practicing lawyer, much of that time as an assistant district attorney here in Milwaukee. Now she is working as a family mediator. She was the Provincial Leader for the School Sisters of Notre Dame Milwaukee Province for six years.
Her talk is going to be centered around her experiences of “…living out my baptismal call as a Vowed Member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame.” She hopes to illustrate what the consecrated life as a woman religious means in the church and world today.
As mentioned above, the talk will be on Tuesday, April 21st, starting at 7 p.m. It will be in the Inner Commons at Henni Hall, located at the Saint Francis de Sales Seminary. It is open to everybody. There will be a small reception after the talk. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to 414-747-6479 or mschrauth@sfs.edu. If you would like more information please see the attached flyer. If you have a place to hang up the flyer to get the word out to others, please do so.
The Salzmann Library looks forward to seeing you at what should be an excellent talk. Sr. Debra is sure to provide an excellent perspective on consecrated life in today’s world.
As always, if you have any ideas and comments for things I could change, please let me know. If you have any books that you have read or have read the books I mention, please leave a comment. We here at Salzmann also want to know what people are reading. Comments are always appreciated – anything I can do to make this better I will strive my best to accomplish.
