Fr. Peter Patrick Kimani blesses St. Catherine Parish’s new Native Pollinator Garden following the parish’s annual outdoor Mass on July 12. The garden, along with a tulip tree planted in memory of Dcn. Ralph Kornburger, who served the parish for more than 40 years, was made possible through a grant from Faith in Place. The parish’s Faith in Place Green Team promotes environmental stewardship inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical “Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home,” encouraging care for creation while creating habitat for butterflies, bees and other native pollinators. The project reflects both the day’s Gospel about seeds bearing fruit in rich soil and the parish’s motto: “Here to Stay, Here to Serve!”
