smallcaprioloFr. Victor “Vic” CaprioloFr. Victor R. Capriolo, 67, moderator of the in solidum team at Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac, died Aug. 22 in a bicycle accident. Born in Milwaukee, he began his priestly formation at DeSales Preparatory High School in 1959 before entering Saint Francis de Sales Seminary in 1965 and completing his studies in 1971. Fr. Capriolo was ordained May 29, 1971, at his home parish, St. Agnes in Butler, by Auxiliary Bishop Leo J. Brust.

Fr. Capriolo began his ministry as associate pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish, Milwaukee, 1971-1977, before serving as associate pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Grafton in 1977-1981. He also served as director of spiritual formation, Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, 1981-1982; associate pastor in 1982 and pastoral team member in 1985, St. Monica Parish, Whitefish Bay; and chaplain, Diocese of Juneau, Alaska, 1988-1991. Fr. Capriolo took a sabbatical from the time he returned to the Archdiocese in August 1991 until he was appointed administrator of St. Nicholas Parish, Milwaukee, in collaboration with St. Albert and Holy Redeemer Parishes, in December 1991.

He then served as pastor, St. Bernard Parish, Wauwatosa, 1992-1998; administrator, St. Mary Parish, Fond du Lac, 1998; team member of the in solidum team, Holy Family Parish, Fond du Lac, 2000, and then moderator of the in solidum team, 2009, the position he held until his death.

In addition to his parish ministry, Fr. Capriolo served as dean of District 8, Fond du Lac County, 2006-2008.

He is survived by his parents, Samuel and Julia Capriolo; brothers, Mike (Rita) Capriolo and Dr. Mark (Karen Kroll) Capriolo; and sister, Carol (Bill) Burczyk.
