Sharon Iggens Hanson admits she has grown in her 25 years as an attorney at Rechlicz & Hanson, on Main Street in Menomonee Falls.

“When I first became a lawyer, I wanted to do so because I enjoyed making arguments,” she said. “As I have progressed in my career, I have learned that helping people resolve issues is much more important.  I like to remember the words of Abraham Lincoln as I practice today: ‘Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser—in fees, expenses and waste of time. As a peacemaker, the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough.’”

Hanson is a graduate of St. Louis University School of Law and was admitted to practice law in the State of Wisconsin in 1993. She is also admitted to practice before the Eastern and Western Districts of the Federal Court in Wisconsin and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Hanson is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Waukesha County Bar Association.

Community involvement is also very important to Hanson.  She is the past president of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Washington County, a volunteer judge in Menomonee Falls Teen Court and is very active at her parish, St. Matthias in Milwaukee. The firm has also sponsored a team in the Menomonee Falls Little League for several years.

Hanson’s practice emphasizes real estate, estate planning, probate, guardianship, civil litigation and traffic matters.  She enjoys working with families to help them solve problems.  At some point in their lives, most everyone needs to see a lawyer.  That can be intimidating.  Hanson tries to make that experience as comfortable as possible, given the circumstances.

She also tries to incorporate her Catholic faith into her practice, when appropriate.

“Jesus said, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers,’” Hanson said. “If I can provide some peace or solace to a client who seeks my counsel, then I believe I am living out my faith in my practice.”

It is important to Hanson that she earns her client’s trust.  She works diligently to provide sound, responsible counsel. She understands that every case is different, so she listens closely to what her clients have to say and then furnish them with the guidance that makes sense to them.

Seeing a lawyer should never be cost prohibitive.  She brings a common-sense approach to her cases and looks for solutions that are beneficial but also economical for her clients.
