Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Jeffrey S. Grob, Rev. Kevin M. Birmingham, and Rev. Robert J. Lombardo, C.F.R. as Auxiliary Bishops of Chicago.

Fr. Jeffrey S. Grob has been appointed as Titular Bishop of Abora and Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago; Fr. Kevin M. Birmingham has been appointed as Titular Bishop of Dolia and Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago; and Fr. Robert J. Lombardo, C.F.R. (Franciscan Friars of the Renewal), has been appointed as Titular Bishop of Munaziana and Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago. The appointments were announced Sept. 11 in Washington, D.C., by Archbishop Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States.

The Archdiocese of Chicago is comprised of 1,411 square miles in the state of Illinois and has a total population of 5.9 million, of which almost 2.2 million are Catholic. Cardinal Blase J. Cupich is the current archbishop of Chicago.
