LIGUORI, Mo. — Liguori Publications, a leading Catholic publisher operated by the Redemptorist order, has purchased “Catholic Update” and many other parish resources from Franciscan Media.

The purchase is part of a collaborative agreement that “enables both companies to use their strengths to better serve Catholic parishes and individuals,” according to a June 12 press release.

Virgil Tipton, Liguori’s publisher, said the purchase will benefit Catholic parishes worldwide.

“This purchase enables us to become a more comprehensive provider of resources and solutions that parishes need today,” he said in a statement. “It also furthers our commitment to serve all parishes, helping them to reach out to seekers and grow in ministry.”

Franciscan Fr. Dan Kroger, publisher and CEO of Franciscan Media, based in Cincinnati, described the decision to collaborate with Liguori.

“Liguori has always had a prominent role in parish resources, faith formation, and renewal programs,” said Fr. Kroger. “I am confident the ‘Catholic Update’ publications and other resources will flourish in Liguori’s hands. We look forward to more collaboration in our future ministries.”

Franciscan Media, in describing its mission, said it “seeks to help Christians grow closer to God by creating inspiring and innovative products in the spirit of St. Francis” wherever they are “on their personal faith journeys. The publisher will continue to provide print and other media products from its well-known brands Servant Books, St. Anthony Messenger magazine, AmericanCatholic.org, among others.

Liguori Publications produces resources for parishes and individuals “in every stage of faith and life.” Those include print and digital books, catechetical and faith formation materials, pamphlets and church bulletins.
