Pope Francis has announced a Year of Consecrated Life in an effort to help lay Catholics gain a deeper understanding of religious life.(CNS photo, courtesy RCA)

The year, which began the first Sunday of Advent, Nov. 30, will end Feb. 2, 2016, the World Day of Consecrated Life.

Men and women living in consecrated life are sisters, brothers, priests who belong to a religious order where they have made public vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. They can also be lay people in the case of consecrated virgins who profess a vow of virginity that is received by a bishop.

Tell us about the impact a religious has had upon your life and you’ll be entered to win two tickets to the Saturday, March 21, concert at the Pabst Theater by “The Priests.”

“The Priests” are three Irish priests – diocesan, not religious – who recorded their debut album in 2008 and which sold more than 1 million copies in Ireland alone.

The Milwaukee appearance is one stop on their March 15-28 U.S. tour.

In 250 words or less, tell us about the religious who left a lasting impact on your life.
