ST. FRANCIS — The high-school Remnant retreat kicks off its second year Friday, Dec. 16, at the Cousins Center, 3501 S. Lake Drive.
Coordinated and facilitated by seminarians preparing for the priesthood at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, “The Remnant: Gridiron Spirituality for the Catholic Man,” is a weekend-long football camp for area high school athletes.
Designed to build leaders with on-the-field skill and off-the-field integrity, the Remnant addresses challenges facing young athletes – including developing virtue and character, and realizing their responsibilities as public people.
Attendees participate in conditioning, drills and scrimmages, teaming up with players and coaches from the college and professional levels.
Guest speakers for the camp include former New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills linebacker Kevin O’Brien, Wisconsin Lutheran College wide-receivers coach Dave Archibald, and Cardinal Stritch University athletic director Pat Clemens. The Remnant’s keynote speaker is Tom Pipines from Fox 6.
Open to current high school athletes, “The Remnant: Gridiron Spirituality for the Catholic Man,” begins Friday, Dec. 16, and runs through Sunday, Dec. 18. Cost for weekend is $10. Remnant basketball and Remnant soccer retreats will be held in 2012. Visit www.thinkpriest.org/remnant for registration and information.
