HALES CORNERS — A local Priest of the Sacred Heart was elected to serve as a member of the General Council of the Priests of Sacred Heart in Rome.Fr. Stephen Huffstetter

Fr. Stephen Huffstetter, who has served for the past two years as provincial superior of the U.S. Province of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, based in Hales Corners and which operates Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology where seminarians from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee receive their academic training, moved to Rome July 29.

Originally from South Bend, Indiana, Fr. Huffstetter earned degrees from Loyola University and Catholic Theological Union, Chicago. He has also served in education and formation, and in pastoral ministry, on several Indian reservations in South Dakota.

Sacred Heart Fr. Ed Kilianski will serve as the interim provincial until members of the U.S. Province choose a new provincial superior and council during an election assembly, Aug. 24-28 in Franklin.
