Fr. Stanley B. Klauck
Born in Sheboygan to Jacob and Catherine Klauck, Fr. Stanley B. Klauck attended St. Lawrence High School, Mt. Calvary, and studied at Saint Francis Minor and Major seminaries, St. Francis. He was ordained to the priesthood June 8, 1946, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Klauck began his priestly ministry at St. Veronica Parish, Milwaukee, 1946-1962; St. Monica Parish, Whitefish Bay, 1962-1965; St. Mary Parish, Port Washington, 1965-1966; St. Peter of Alcantara Parish, Port Washington, 1966-1979; and Sacred Heart Parish, Racine,1979-1992. Fr. Klauck retired to Scottsdale, Ariz., 1992-2008, though he continued to serve parishes in the Diocese of Phoenix.
After thoroughly celebrating his 50th and 60th jubilees, Fr. Klauck had just one word when it came to the prospect of celebrating his 65th anniversary as priest: “Enough!”
Msgr. Ralph R. Schmit
Born in Milwaukee to Alphonse and Marie Schmit, Msgr. Ralph R. Schmit attended Holy Ghost Elementary School, Milwaukee, and high school and two years of college at St. Lawrence Seminary, Mt. Calvary. He then attended Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He was ordained to the priesthood June 8, 1946, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Msgr. Schmit began his priestly ministry at St. Monica Parish, Whitefish Bay, 1946-1954. He then became a faculty member of Messmer High School, Milwaukee, where he taught religion, was a guidance counselor, served as athletic director, business manager and eventually was named principal.
While at Messmer High School, Msgr. Schmit became director of the Sodality Union of the Milwaukee Archdiocese, comprised of the students of the Catholic high schools in the archdiocese. Their annual conventions featured renowned speakers from around the country and attracted nearly 5,000 students.
During the late 1960s, Msgr. Schmit and the late Msgr. Edmund Goebel inaugurated the Catholic Instructional Television program, bringing television into the classrooms in the Milwaukee Archdiocese. It was one of the first classroom TV networks in the country. Also during that time he earned a master’s degree in communications from Marquette University, Milwaukee.
Msgr. Schmit later taught communications at Loyola University in New Orleans, La. In 1969, he received a certificate of graduation from the First National Communications Institute in recognition of his outstanding effort, dedication and achievement in the field of communications.
Msgr. Schmit served as chaplain of the St. Bernadine Guild, chairman of the Wisconsin Catholic Action Convention and director of radio and tv for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
In July 1965 Pope Paul VI named Msgr. Schmit a monsignor in the Catholic Church, and in 1971 Marquette University awarded him a doctorate in philosophy.
Following his work in television, Msgr. Schmit was appointed pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Milwaukee, in 1972, where he remained until his retirement in 1996. In retirement, he resides at Alexian Village, Milwaukee.
Fr. Robert Francis Mueller
Born in Milwaukee to Robert and Frances Mueller, Fr. Robert Francis Mueller attended grade school at SS. Peter and Paul, Holy Redeemer and St. Augustine of Hippo, all in Milwaukee. He then graduated from Pio Nono High School, St. Francis, and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in music education from Alverno College, and a master’s degree in German from Marquette University. He attended Saint Francis Seminary, and was ordained a priest June 8, 1946, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Mueller began his priestly ministry as an associate pastor at St. Edward Parish, Racine, 1946-1948. He then went on to serve at Saint Francis Minor Seminary, Milwaukee, 1948-1973; pastor of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Union Grove, 1973-1981; as chaplain at West Allis Memorial Hospital, West Allis, 1981-1984; as pastor of St. Catherine Parish, Mapleton, 1984-1988; as chaplain at Villa Clement Nursing Home, West Allis, 1988-1991; and retired Sept. 30, 1992.
After years serving the church by teaching Latin, German, religion, band and choir, one of Fr. Mueller’s fondest memories is having spent much of his time in Puerto Rico “helping out.”

Fr. Harvey Brahm
Fr. Robert Maney
Born in Milwaukee to the late Leo and late Anna Maney, Fr. Robert Maney has one brother, Howard Maney. He attended Holy Apostles School in New Berlin, where he said a Notre Dame nun and Franciscan nun, his first and eighth grade teachers, were “highly inspirational” in his life. He continued his education at Saint Francis de Sales Minor and Major Seminaries in St. Francis, and was ordained May 26, 1951, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Maney began his priestly ministry at St. Peter Claver Parish, Sheboygan in 1951. He also served at Immaculate Conception Parish, Milwaukee, 1956-1971, and taught at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, 1956-1960; St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, Union Grove, about 1970 to about 1974; St. Albert Parish, Milwaukee, about 1974 to about 1976; St. Mary Parish, Lost Lake, and St. Gabriel Parish, Randolph, about 1976 to about 1988; St. John, Clyman, about 1990 to about 1993 until he was on sick leave. He spent about 20 years serving parishes throughout Columbia County, before his retirement in 1994.
“It’s been a wonderful life and I’m grateful to all the people who have inspired me, and also my family background,” Fr. Maney said.
Archbishop Rembert G. Weakland
Born in Patton, Penn., to Basil and Mary Weakland, he attended high school at St. Vincent Preparatory School, Penn., and then went on to St. Vincent College where he pursued a World War II accelerated college program. Two years later he was sent to complete his training for the priesthood and to continue his study of music and languages at the International Benedictine College of Sant’ Anselmo in Rome.
Archbishop Weakland was ordained to the priesthood June 24, 1951, in Subiaco, Italy, but continued on to study music at The Julliard School of Music in New York. After graduating in 1954, he entered a doctoral program in music at Columbia University, New York, 1953-1956.
After his priestly ordination, life moved fast for Archbishop Weakland. He was elected coadjutor archabbot of St. Vincent Archabbey in 1963, and later that year became archabbot. One year later he received a papal appointment as consulter to the Commission for Implementing the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy of the Second Vatican Council and was appointed a member of that commission in 1968. In 1967 he was elected Abbot Primate of Benedictines worldwide, a post he was re-elected to in 1973. In 1977 he was appointed archbishop of Milwaukee.
Archbishop Weakland held several positions on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, including advisor to the bishops’ Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs; member and chairman for the Committee on the Liturgy; member of the ad hoc Committee for Hispanic Affairs; co-chair of the Roman Catholic-Orthodox Bishops Dialogue; chairman of the committee which drafted the “Pastoral Letter on Catholic Social Teaching and the U.S. Economy”; Committee of the U.S. Catholic Common Ground Initiative; and the chairman of the Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs.
Pope John Paul II accepted Archbishop Weakland’s retirement letter on May 24, 2002.

Fr. Leonard Andre
Fr. Richard C. Breitbach
Born in Milwaukee to Clarence and Hilda Breitbach, Fr. Richard C. Breitbach attended St. Sebastian Grade School, Milwaukee, Saint Francis Minor and Major seminaries, St. Francis, and the Pontifical North American College in Rome. He also attended the University of Chicago for further graduate study. He was ordained to the priesthood Dec. 18, 1960, at the Chapel of the North American College.
Fr. Breitbach began his priestly ministry as a temporary administrator at St. Francis Xavier Parish, Brighton, 1961-1962. From there he served St. John Nepomuc Parish, Milwaukee, 1962-1967; was a faculty member at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, 1965-1970 and 1970-1979 and at Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, 1979-1999; and was pastor of Resurrection Parish, Allenton, 1999-2005.
Fr. Breitbach celebrated his jubilee privately last October.
Fr. Richard J. Cerpich
Born in Sheboygan to John and Mary Cerpich, Fr. Richard J. Cerpich attended grade school at SS. Cyril and Methodius, Sheboygan, and Saint Francis Minor and Major seminaries, St. Francis, received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and Latin and a master’s degree in education from Marquette University, Milwaukee. He was ordained to the priesthood May 27, 1961, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Cerpich began his priestly ministry as a pastoral associate at Blessed Sacrament, Milwaukee, 1961-1965. He then went on to serve as faculty at Pio Nono High School, Milwaukee (now St. Thomas More High School), 1965-1971; faculty and principal at De Sales Preparatory Seminary High School, St. Francis, 1971-1979; associate pastor of St. Eugene, Fox Point, 1979-1980; pastor of St. Robert, Shorewood, 1980-1992; pastor of St. Mary, Random Lake, St. Nicholas, Dacada and St. Patrick, Adell, 1992-1996; St. Mary, Cascade and St. Michael, Mitchell, 1996-1998; served during the merger of the churches of Random Lake, Dacada, Adell and Cascade, 1998-2005; and was the assisting priest of St. Peter Claver, Sheboygan, 2005 to present.
In 2009 Fr. Cerpich was also involved with several archdiocesan priests in planning and hosting candle vigil services for those who suffer because of priest sexual abuse.
Fr. Paul R. Lippert
Born in Kenosha to Matt and Pauline Lippert, Fr. Paul R. Lippert has one sister, Donna (Hank) Saarnio, and one brother, Vincent Lippert. He attended St. Mary School, St. Mark Elementary School (now merged with St. Joseph High School and St. Joseph Inter-parish Junior High to form St. Joseph Academy) and Bradford High School, all in Kenosha. He continued his education at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, and was ordained May 27, 1961, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Lippert, now retired, began his priestly ministry at St. Edward Parish, Racine, followed by assignments at Christ King Parish, Wauwatosa; St. Mary Parish, Sheboygan Falls; St. Therese Parish, Milwaukee; and at St. Peter Parish, Port Washington. Fr. Lippert was also a faculty member at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, and a member of the first priest personnel board and its second executive secretary.
A Mass and celebration of Fr. Lippert’s jubilee was held and concelebrated by his classmates and priest friends at St. Paul Church, Plainfield, June 5.
Fr. Louis P. Luljak
Born in South Milwaukee to Paul and Pauline (Kuzma) Luljak, Fr. Louis P. Luljak has three siblings the late Anthony and late Laddie Luljak, and Mary Moscisker. He attended St. Joseph School in Cudahy and Saint Francis de Sales Minor Seminary, later entering Saint Francis de Sales Major Seminary, St. Francis, where he earned his bachelor’s degree and Master of Divinity. He also earned his master’s in guidance and counseling from Long Island University in New York. He was ordained May 27, 1961, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Luljak, now retired, began his priestly ministry at St. Anthony Parish, Kenosha, 1961-1967. Other assignments include: U.S. Army chaplain, Korea, Vietnam, Fort Carson, Colo., Fort Wolters, Texas, Fort Riley, Kan.; Saint Francis de Sales Seminary – Masters Program; Chaplain Career Course, Long Island University, N.Y., 1976-1977; Command and General Staff College, 1977-1978; St. Roman, Milwaukee, 1978-1980; Divine Word, Cedarburg, 1980-1991; Holy Trinity and St. Stanislaus, both in Racine, 1992-1998; St. Peter, East Troy, 1998-2002; retirement in Deltona, Fla. – summers at Holy Angels Parish, West Bend, 2002 to present.
“(My) greatest joy is ministering to God’s people and trying to encourage and inspire young men to consider a vocation to the Catholic priesthood,” Fr. Luljak said.
A Mass and celebration of Fr. Luljak’s jubilee was held and concelebrated by priests of the area and his classmates at Holy Angels Church, West Bend, May 29.
Fr. Robert W. Nawrocki
Born in Milwaukee to the late William and late Regina Nawrocki, Fr. Robert W. Nawrocki has one brother, Richard Nawrocki. He attended Saint Francis de Sales Minor Seminary, later entering Saint Francis de Sales Major Seminary, St. Francis. He was ordained May 27, 1961, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Nawrocki began his priestly ministry at St. Adalbert Parish, Milwaukee, 1961 to about 1967, and later became a faculty member at Saint Francis de Sales Preparatory High School and College from about 1967 to about 1978, followed by assignments as associate pastor at St. Helen Parish, Milwaukee, from 1978 to about 1980; pastor, Holy Name Parish, Wilmot, from 1981 to about 1994; pastor, St. Alexander Parish, Milwaukee, from about 1995 to about 2005; and is currently retired but helps out when asked at St. Alexander, St. Helen and St. John Kanty Parishes, all in Milwaukee.
“(I) have enjoyed good years of work (and) am enjoying a good retirement,” Fr. Nawrocki said.

Fr. John R. Paczesny
Born in Milwaukee to the late John T. and late Marie A. Paczesny, members of St. Casimir Parish, Milwaukee, Fr. John R. Paczesny attended the St. Casimir Parish School. He continued his education at Saint Francis de Sales Minor Seminary, and Saint Francis de Sales Major Seminary, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, before earning his Master of Arts and master’s in education from Marquette University, Milwaukee. He was ordained May 27, 1961, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Milwaukee.
Fr. Paczesny began his ministry as assistant pastor at St. Paul Parish, Milwaukee, 1961-1965, followed by assistant pastor at St. Alexander Parish, Milwaukee, and part-time faculty at De Sales Prepartory Seminary, 1965-1966; faculty member at De Sales Preparatory High School and Saint Francis de Sales College, 1966-1979; Dominican High School, 1979-1989; chaplain at St. Mary’s Hospital and Columbia St. Mary’s, 1989-2003; and he also served as procurator-advocate and pro synodal judge with the matrimonial tribunal.
Fr. Paczesny also assisted during weekends at Holy Family Parish, Cudahy; St. Anthony Parish, Menomonee Falls; and St. Monica Parish, Whitefish Bay. The senior priest is currently assisting as pool chaplain at Columbia-St. Mary’s. Jubilee plans are being scheduled.
Fr. Robert A. Skeris
Born in Sheboygan to the late Alex F. and late Eugenia Teresa Cizauskas Skeris, Fr. Robert A. Skeris has siblings Peter J. Skeris, Barbara Elmer, Alexia Altmann, Catherine Skeris, the late Eugene F. Skeris and late Philip J. Skeris. He attended St. Clement School in Sheboygan, the Salvatorian Seminary in St. Nazianz, and he earned his bachelor’s degree at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, and doctorate at the University of Bonn, Germany. He was ordained May 27, 1961, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Skeris began his priestly ministry as assistant pastor at St. Joseph Parish, Racine, 1961-1963, and continued as a professor at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, 1964-1971; did graduate studies at the University of Bonn, Germany, in 1975; and became a professor at the University of Dallas/Holy Trinity Seminary; St. Michael Abbey, Silverado, Calif., 1976-1977; director of hymnology at the Secular Institute of Hymnological and Ethnomusicological Studies, Maria Laach, West Germany, 1978-1986; professor of Prefetto della Casa Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, Rome, 1986-1990; professor chaplain, chairman, theology department at Christendom College, Diocese of Arlington, Va., 1990 to retirement 1999; chaplain, Latin Tridentine Community, Milwaukee Archdiocese, 2000-2007; and has been director for Ward Centre, B.T. Fr. Skeris wrote “Chroma Theou,” 1976, and “Divini Cultus Studium,” 1990. He also edited “Crux et Cithara,” 1983, and “Cum Angelis Canere,” 1990. He has been chairman of the Dom Mocquereau Foundation, Washington, D.C., 2007 to present, and is a Knight Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; Medal Silver Palms of Jerusalem (Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem); Knight, Order of Merit (Fed. Republic of Austria); and Knight, Ordem Nacional dos Bandeirantes (Brazil).
A Mass was said in the Extraordinary Form at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Sheboygan, and preached by Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter Fr. Gerard C. Saguto Sunday, May 29 to celebrate Fr. Skeris’ jubilee, followed by a reception and dinner at the American Club in Kohler.

Fr. Roy A. Lee
Born in Milwaukee to Juanita and the late Lester Lee, Fr. Roy Lee is the youngest of six children, Hubert, Walter, Sue, Annette and Larry. He attended St. Leo Elementary School and Washington High School, both in Milwaukee, before graduating from Seminary at St. Pius X in Erlanger, Ky., earning his Master of Divinity from Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, his master’s in theology from Xavier University Institute for Black Catholic Studies, La., and his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Human Resources from Colorado State University. He was ordained a priest May 17, 1986, for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, but currently resides in Atlanta, where he is a supply priest for the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
Fr. Lee began his ministry as associate pastor at St. Philip Neri Parish, Milwaukee.
He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Knights of St. Peter Claver, the National Black Clergy Caucus, and is an adjunct professor with St. Leo University, Saint Leo, Fla.; The Institute for Black Catholic Studies, Xavier University, New Orleans, La.; and DeVry University in Atlanta. He has also been a faculty member at the University of Maryland and at Cathedral Grade School, a chaplain for the United States Air Force, and has earned distinctions including the Air Force Commendation Medal with one-leaf cluster and the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two bronze campaign stars for Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Fr. Lee is involved in organizations like Feeding the Homeless, jail ministry, street ministry, and assists at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cancer Home in Atlanta. An international lecturer and presenter, Fr. Lee leads retreats, revivals and workshops around the country and Caribbean Islands. He is also working on an autobiography, “Sanctuary: Stories from the Heart,” which will be published in fall to celebrate his 25 years of service to the Catholic faith.
A Mass and celebration of Fr. Lee’s jubilee was held May 11 in the Archdiocese of Atlanta, and he is planning a religious trip to Rome and Fatima in October.
Fr. Aurelio Perez
Born in Sinton, Texas, to Nicolas and the late Santiaga Perez, Fr. Aurelio Perez has one brother, Nicolas Perez Jr. (Shirley) and three nieces/nephews, Nicolas J., Shannon M. and Aaron A. Fr. Perez attended Barstow Elementary School and Waukesha North High School, both in Waukesha. He continued his education at Saint Francis de Sales College and Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis. He was ordained May 17, 1986, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Perez began his ministry at Sacred Heart, Racine, 1986-1989, followed by assignments at Holy Apostles, New Berlin, 1989-1995; St. Alphonsus, Greendale, 1995-1999; St. Joseph, Waukesha, 1999-2006; St. Francis Xavier, Brighton, and St. John the Baptist, Paris, 2006-2007; and St. Clare, Wind Lake, 2008 to the present.

Fr. James Schuerman
Born in Burlington to Robert and the late Elizabeth Schuerman, Fr. James Schuerman has two brothers, Robert and David, and two sisters, Virginia Kalaveshi and Theresa Schuerman. He attended St. Joseph Grade School, Lyons, Burlington Junior High School and Burlington High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Saint Francis de Sales College, master’s in theology from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and doctorate in ministry from the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. Fr. Schuerman attended Saint Francis de Sales Minor Seminary, later attending Saint Francis de Sales Major Seminary, St. Francis, for one year until studying at Collegium Canisianum, while studying at the University of Innsbruck. He was ordained May 17, 1986, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Schuerman began his priestly ministry as associate pastor of St. Anthony, Milwaukee, 1986-1992, followed by associate pastor and pastor of La Parroquia Sagrada Familia, Sabana Yegua, Azua, Dominican Republic, 1992-1996. He spent a 1996-1997 as a student at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, before becoming spiritual director at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, 1997-2009, followed by administrator of St. Andrew Parish, Delavan, 2009-2010, and then pastor, 2010-2011; and is currently pastor of St. Andrew Parish, Delavan, and St. Patrick Parish, Elkhorn.
“With each year, my ministry grows more challenging and more rewarding,” Fr. Schuerman said. “My different assignments as a priest have taught me much about leadership in the Christian community, the need for a solid prayer life, the importance of preaching and presiding and the value of reaching out to others. I love serving God and the church as an ordained minister.”
Fr. Schuerman will celebrate his jubilee Mass at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at St. Andrew Parish, Delavan, with a reception to follow in the St. Andrew Parish School cafeteria.
Msgr. Ross A. Shecterle
Born in Milwaukee, Msgr. Ross A. Shecterle earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Saint Francis de Sales College, Milwaukee, and his Master of Divinity at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis. He was ordained May 17, 1986, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Following his ordination, Msgr. Shecterle earned his License in Sacred Theology at the Catholic University of Louvain, where he resided at the American College; master’s in pastoral counseling at Loyola College in Baltimore, Md., and later earned his doctorate in pastoral counseling.
Msgr. Shecterle began his priestly ministry as associate pastor of Immaculate Conception, Burlington, 1986-1990, and continued as assistant vocation director, director of the high school seminary program and director of college recruitment for the Milwaukee Archdiocese, 1990-1992; dean of students at the seminary, 2000-2002; and vice rector at the seminary, 2002-2003. In 2007, Msgr. Shecterle became the 16th rector of The American College of the Immaculate Conception, which closes this month. He has served on the formation faculty of the Pontifical North American College in Rome as director of counseling services, and as an invited professor in pastoral psychology at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas-Angelicum, Rome. Msgr. Shecterle has given many presentations in the U.S. and internationally, is a licensed professional counselor in Wisconsin and wrote, “The Theology of Revelation of Avery Dulles, 1980-1994: Symbolic Mediation,” published in 1996.
Fr. Anthony Zimmer
Born in Milwaukee to the late Joseph and late Alberta Zimmer, Fr. Anthony Zimmer has four siblings, Michael, Mary Jo, Mark and Peggy. He attended Hoover Elementary in New Berlin, and Nathan Hale High School in West Allis before earning his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Marquette University. Fr. Zimmer, who attended Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, St. Francis, was ordained May 17, 1986 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.
Fr. Zimmer began his priestly ministry at St. James, Franklin, 1986-1989, followed by St. John Vianney, Brookfield, 1989-1995; Pius XI High School, Milwaukee, 1995-2000; St. Charles Borromeo, Milwaukee, 2000-2010; and St. Anthony on the Lake, Pewaukee, 2010 to present.
“I am blessed,” Fr. Zimmer said. “I am grateful. I am happy.”
Fr. Zimmer will celebrate his jubilee Mass Sunday, June 26 at St. Anthony on the Lake, Pewaukee, at 10:45 a.m. with classmates, friends and colleagues concelebrating, followed by a picnic at noon.
