A handcrafted mosaic created in Italy has been completed at Sacred Heart Church in Fond du Lac, marking a major milestone in a $2 million renovation of the church, one of Holy Family Parish’s worship sites in Fond du Lac.

The mosaic, crafted by artisans in Milan, was shipped to Wisconsin in sections and installed by a team of Italian workers. The artwork is the centerpiece of a renovation that took approximately 16 months and included new flooring, repainting and extensive changes to the sanctuary and altar area.

Fr. Ryan Pruess said the design drew inspiration from traditional churches in Italy and France.

The completed mosaic was unveiled in late September. The renovation was funded through contributions to the parish’s Love One Another campaign, according to Holy Family’s website.
