More than 400 Hispanic Catholic youth from throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee gathered Oct. 10 at the Mary Mother of the Church Pastoral Center in St. Francis for the annual Hispanic Youth Encuentro, themed “Called to Greatness.”

The daylong event encouraged young Catholics ages 13 to 17 to deepen their faith, explore their calling and connect with other Catholic teens. Father Craig Richter served as emcee, and Leonel Lara, youth coordinator at St. John Paul II Parish, delivered the keynote address. The gathering concluded with a Holy Hour and the celebration of Holy Mass in the Mater Christi Chapel, presided over by Archbishop Jeffrey S. Grob.

Organized by the archdiocese’s Hispanic Ministry, Encuentro has become an annual opportunity for Hispanic youth to celebrate their Catholic identity. Previous gatherings have included prayer, faith formation and dialogue with the archbishop.
