Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki wrote an April 8 letter to the faithful, recognizing the month of April as the month of National Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness, and as a time for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to “focus on raising the awareness of child abuse and neglect.”

“At this time, I, along with the Safe Environment Office, renew the promise and pledge of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to protect God’s most precious and vulnerable members of society, our children,” Archbishop Listecki said in the e-mail, adding that while the reality cannot be denied that harm has been caused to children and youth in the community, the archdiocese can “continue to concentrate on the education and promotion of safe environment awareness in our parishes and school communities.”
