MarkForBlogWe recently purchased, and it is now circulating, a book entitled, “25 Books Every Christian Should Read.” The book has the list; and then several pages on each book. Another nice point in the back of the book is a list of who they consider the best contemporary authors. Some of these books I can say I have read, or mostly read, such as St. Augustine’s “Confessions,” St. Athanasius’ “On the Incarnation, The Rule of St. Benedict,” and “The Sayings of the Desert Fathers.”

Now, before you think that all the books are old, they aren’t, those are just the ones I have read.  It’s what happens when you have your bachelor’s degree in history and took multiple early Christianity history classes. It definitely has newer books by such writers as Henri Nouwen and C.S. Lewis.

This book also made me think of trying to do a blog where I get more feedback from you, the cherished readers of this blog (I appreciate each and every one of you for reading this). If you have your own lists of favorite Christian books, please let me know. You can do that either by emailing me directly at mschrauth@sfs.edu, finding Salzmann Library on Facebook and typing the titles of your books there, or just responding in the comments section. However you respond, I am looking forward to reading the books that the people are reading.
Finally, I want to make mention quick a cheer for good luck for the seminarians as they play their annual flag football game with Nashotah House.

As always, if you have any ideas and comments for things I could change, please let me know. If you have any books that you have read or have read the books I mention, please leave a comment. We here at Salzmann also want to know what people are reading. These are always appreciated, and anything I can do to make this better I will strive my best to accomplish.
