Son of William J. and Jane C. (Harrington) Kiernan was born to new life on Oct. 31, 2010 at the age of 78. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy and his son, William J., III. Loving father of Cecilia Jane (Douglas) Hillard, Claudia Ellen (Timothy) Reilly and Matthew James (Cheryl) Kiernan. Proud Papa of 12 grandchildren: Christopher, Matthew, Jennifer and James Hillard; Katharine, Timothy and Patrick Reilly; Rachel, Rebecca and Molly Kiernan-Reilly; Sean Kiernan; and Justin Tobin. Bill is further survived by his brother Kevin (Judith) Kiernan of Norwood, Mass., and his sister-in-law, Roth Kolka of West Roxbury, Mass., as well as many other relatives and friends.
Bill was educated at Boston Latin School, Holy Cross College and Harvard Law School. He was a retired partner of Foley and Lardner and a retired Commander in the U.S. Navy.
Visitation was held at the Feerick Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 5. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 836 N. Broadway in Milwaukee on Saturday, Nov. 6. Interment took place at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. Memorials in Bill’s name may be made to the Kiernan Fund for Neuroscience Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin, 8701 Watertown Plank Road, Milwaukee, 53226 or the Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House, 420 W.
